They say apples hold magic
A hidden star at its core
I never believed in mysticism
Yet you with juice on your chin
Has me absolutely entranced
By the simple act of devouring
The sweet fruit of September
Where my desire is to be part
Of the bounty of your fall harvest
Collected and savored like that apple
A response in the form of a memory to Mish’s writing prompt on fall fruits over at dVerse.

Nice twist at the end. We all need that kind of love, to be chosen and treasured. The magical aspect of your poem made me think of a story I used to tell preschoolers using an apple, telling them about a star inside. Sliced the right way….voila! There it was.

Thank you for the kind words and the prompt. I’d never noticed the star in the Apple until a d’Verse prompt a while ago, and I’m wondering if that was you.

Hmm…thats so interesting! I don’t believe it was me though. Now I’ll have to search it out. 🙂

I so love how you referred to the star within the apple, we have all seen it, but the magic reference makes sense.
