Watching the clock As it marches on Lying awake she wonders To herself about motivations For still being here Does it make her happy When it doesn’t bring her pain Does it keep her from crying When it doesn’t make her insane Over banal dinners Nights with out pleasure Conversations with a stranger Who knows her name Day after day it’s always the same Does it make her happy When it doesn’t bring her pain Does it keep her from crying When it doesn’t make her insane Each passing moment It gets easier than the last As she forgets who she is Settling into this life Of comfort without meaning Does it make her happy When it doesn’t bring her pain Does it keep her from crying When it doesn’t make her insane It’s hurts to smile No one sees the pain She’s still the same beautiful girl And when she’s with him They still tell her the same Does it make her happy When it doesn’t bring her pain Does it keep her from crying When it doesn’t make her insane Beyond the window and over the sea She thinks maybe somewhere out there There’s a girl just like me With big hopes and dreams And she’s living them all Does it make her happy When it doesn’t bring her pain Does it keep her from crying When it doesn’t make her insane
