The road out here is so flat
You can smell the ocean breeze
Blowing across the Texas expanse
In this wide open stretch of earth
With windows down and radio up

Poem: Ghost of a Girl
I wondered what happened to you
As I thought about traveling west
To find you there and then stopped
If you wanted me you could find me
Instead I traveled to New Orleans
Where I thought I saw you there
Poem: Searching the Vertical Horizon
In the dark her love shines
Like a broken lighthouse
Frozen ahead in one direction
Blind to what is around her
Poem: No More Trains That Go Nowhere
There was a time when you could escape
On trains headed west as far as the rails could go
Dropping you at the edge of western civilization
Now all the rails end at metropolis bright and buzzing
Full of all the colorful people that populate this world
End to end to end with all of their full color lives
When sometimes all you want is the black and white
