How do you capture a smell or vision in words
I’ve filled so many pages of descriptions of you
Still you remain ephemeral like a sheer curtain
You know it’s there because you can see it dancing
Yet everything still shows through giving it shapes

Poem: Epitaph
continually soaring to new heights
until she fell never to fly again
Poem: From a Payphone at 4th and Pine
There’s a pay phone on the corner
Of fourth and pine that I used to call
You collect from on days when I was
Wandering this city alone and thinking
Of you in a red sundress all laughter
Poem: At the Pond Beyond the Pines
There’s a clearing out in the woods
Past a meandering creek now dried up
From summer creek that runs down
To the clearing in the pines
A little pond muddy and dark
Where we would sit under blue skies
Poem: Vintage Memories
I keep bottles on my shelf
That I save for special occasions
Way in the back are those spirits
Saved for nights like this where
The loneliness is unbearable
So I twist off the top and pour
Poem: Walking Down an Old Pier Still Changing
Walking down the old pier at sunset
In the shadows of twilight I see
Ghosts sitting at the waters edge
Toes dipped into water cool for May
The heat of summer still months off
Still they linger with toes going numb
Talking and laughing over cups of coffee
Hoping the caffeine will keep them going
Until the earth eclipses the moon
Poem: Running the Night
On the night air rises
The songs of our youth
Taking your hand
We take off down the road
Thinking maybe tonight
We will find some magic
And we can be that young again
