Yellow light streams from open windows
Shining from living rooms and bedrooms
And all those other rooms
Where people move about sharing a meal
Or a kiss or horseback rides
Life framed by white panels and glass

Poem: Shatter Star
A single star in the night bares your name
From that night you asked me to pick one
To remember you every time
I looked up and you weren’t there
Holding the knowledge
That the star was closer to me
Than you would ever be again
Poem: Disturbed Snow
Another Monday morning
Coffee is on and poured
Hot and black
A contrast to the cold and white
Falling softly in sheets
Poem: Undefined
The sound of the evening
Of a beach with her standing there
Moon behind her hanging
Like a halo around her hair
Done like she always did it
In that favorite shirt of mine
Holding her in all the right places
Poem: UnCivil War
Lips draw tight
In battle lines
Stretching across
Dinner tables
Where brother
Versus brother
Stares daggers
Poem: Perfect Union
Wind sweeps over the battlefield
Carrying the silence
To the ears of the general
While his eyes look over the field
Filled with blood and ichor
Friend and foe frozen in eternal struggles
In the same dirty earth
Resting in eternal peace
Poem: Ghazal Mask
The things we show in the masks we wear
The things we hide in the masks we wear
Tiny invisible killers fill the air
Leading to choices about the masks we wear
