Some days when it’s rainy
And I can’t face the day
I try to stay inside until
It all fades away like a
Leaf on the wind drifting
Aimlessly then it lands
To ride the streaming current
Along these dirty city streets

Poem: If Wonder Was
If wonder existed as a person here
It would be the shape of a educator
A person who teaches others without fear
Who themselves exists as a learned creator
Poem: If Sadness Was
If sadness were a
person would she weep for me
Like I weep for her
Poem: If Anger Was
If anger was a person
It would be me
Ranting and raving
Like a lunatic imprisoned
Spitting at the walls
As if it’d make a difference
Anything to feel less than impotent
Poem: If Happiness Was
If happiness was a person
It would be mother
The voice of lullabies
Kisses good night
Words of encouragement
When the world seems too big
Poem: If Hurt Was
If hurt was a person it’d be you
Of all the broken bones
Fallen scraped knees
Wounds and scars I’ve earned
As parts of adventures or lessons
They’ve all healed eventually
Not you though
You are the hurt that persists
Poem: Walking Away
I see the wild flowers
Showing that it’s spring
I see you with you arms stretched skyward
I know that you’ll be leaving soon
We had some good times
While you were here with me
Being a good lover
I know it’s time for you to be free
Poem: Coffee Dream
Hot and steamy
Rising form the black depths
The vapor roils and curls
Like the curve of your lip
Poem: Repeat
The needle skips
And skips
And skips
Until I put it back in the groove
That old vinyl has been playing
The same song since you left
Poem: Lonely Gallery
Yellow light streams from open windows
Shining from living rooms and bedrooms
And all those other rooms
Where people move about sharing a meal
Or a kiss or horseback rides
Life framed by white panels and glass
