Spring smells mark the arrival
Of warmer weather here
Evaporating fresh rain from sidewalks
As I’m walking by your house
To see all the lights are turned out
For the first time in years

Poem: Moment
The awaiting
Exists here
Between then
And now
And to-be
With breath
Held still
Poem: Empty Spaces
In lonely hours I walk
Passing among the people
Who do not seem bothered
By how alone they are
And find some solace
In this I know companions
Poem: Haunted
In moon light she stands
The wind howls names of lovers
That still haunt her heart
Poem: Kilmarnock
By the clock it was 5:43 am
On a Tuesday in summer
We had driven all night
Breaking the speed limit
To get to the coast by dawn
Sitting on the hood of your car
Watching as night gave way
Poem: Bottled Recollections
Tossing beer cans into the canal
Not worrying about the consequences
As young and reckless as we were
Watching the water rush by
Talking about our adventures
Women who we had been with
Times we should have died
Since we last talked
Poem: Felt Hours
Walking through old memories
Where the heat of your body
Kept me warm between sheets
Soaked with the sweat
Of our passions intwined
Laying in a bed grown cold
By your absence here
Poem: Still Hoping
I packed my bags and sat in the car
With the engine idling and me thinking
About global warming while waiting
To see if you’d show up laughing
Bags in hand sun hat on ready
For some big adventure
Poem: Boundaries
The golden fields of childhood
Lined with verdant forests
Providing a soft boundary
Ripe for exploration
Poem: Repeat
The needle skips
And skips
And skips
Until I put it back in the groove
That old vinyl has been playing
The same song since you left
