How do you capture a smell or vision in words
I’ve filled so many pages of descriptions of you
Still you remain ephemeral like a sheer curtain
You know it’s there because you can see it dancing
Yet everything still shows through giving it shapes

Poem: Desperation Days
Thursdays are desperation days
So close to the weekend they entice
To behavior better saved for Friday nights
I’m laying here half naked and half awake
Listening to breathing that’s not my own
Thinking maybe I made another mistake
Poem: Night Falls Hopeless
Night falls on the city. I’m here falling on my knees. Somewhere out there I picture you falling in between the world you came from and the world you found yourself in.
Poem: Tending to the Flowers
I know it’s late
Or maybe it’s early
Time doesn’t mean much
To me any more
When the hours are leaves
Just falling away
Poem: Lonely Halls with Echos of Plans
In rooms where guests used to congregate in I sit alone
With my thoughts focused on the notable absence of you
Whose angelic voice would fill up these hollow halls with song
Where the people would dance and marvel at the spectacle
Poem: Reading the Blanks
On this blank page I see a mirror
That’s reflecting me and deeper still
It shines with all those wishes
That I wish would be
Poem: Falling Away
The sky is the color of a bruise
Deep purple and swelling
Across a darkening horizon
Where the lights are coming on
In a city full of my ghosts
Poem: A Familiar Face
I saw who I thought was you
The smile was yours and the lips
Oh god, those lips I’d never forget
It was your voice saying my name
Followed by saying sorry as you left
Poem: Living with Ghosts
It’s days like these
When all my rooms
Seem to hold ghosts
Of the past in shadows
That no amount of light
Can seem to chase away
Poem: Weather Changes
The weather is changing
Like things always are
Changing
In ways that we want
And in ways that we don’t
We can’t control
