A
home
is a place
where she used
to live with parents
who treated her like a
pet // fun to show off and
then put back in a cage

Poem: Watching Lives Through Windows
A fire escape is a misnomer
Sitting out here bare to the stars
I don’t feel like I’ve escaped
The fire that burns within
My chest beating with passion
Unrequited by the strangers
Moving through their lives
Poem: Embers
The night bursts into a thousand embers
Each flying to heaven and then falling like stars
Filled with potential to ignite the world
We’re here dancing in the storm like demons
In the tempest of hell on edge of the true inferno
Poem: Vagrant Spirituality
I met Jesus today underneath a bridge
We sat in the fire light of the burning refuge
Talking about sinning and salvation
What it feels like to bear the cross of expectation
And the freedom that comes from laying it down
Poem: Heat
Stars in the sky burn
But not as hot as I do
When I am with you
Poem: Evening Fire
The fire smolders distant in the East
Ignorant of the sparks here
Trying to ignite the night
In a competition with the stars
