Summer is coming around again
Reminding me of your time of leaving
Packing suitcase full of memories
To hang on a dorm room wall
Where they hang until they’re covered
By new pictures of new people

Poem: Night Falls Hopeless
Night falls on the city. I’m here falling on my knees. Somewhere out there I picture you falling in between the world you came from and the world you found yourself in.
Poem: One to Ten
One thing always stands out
Too sharply in the early morning
Three AM and I’m thinking again
For the love that we had back then
Five more minutes of punishment
Poem: Every New Beginning
When you think it’s going to last
forever
When it ends it seems like it’s the pain
That’s going to last
forever
Endings give voice
to finality
Poem: Falling Away
The sky is the color of a bruise
Deep purple and swelling
Across a darkening horizon
Where the lights are coming on
In a city full of my ghosts
Poem: Waiting for the Dam to Break
Seconds pass between breaths
When it seems frozen in eyes
Reflecting like mirrors back
At me showing me all my lies
That are never spoken read
On silent lips that whisper
Poem: History Road
Standing on the banks of a dirt brown river
Looking back at the road already traveled
And contemplating where the next one
Might lead us as I reach out searching
For her hand to take it in mine she pulls
Away and walks to the sandy banks picking
Rocks up trying to skip them on the water
Poem: If Hurt Was
If hurt was a person it’d be you
Of all the broken bones
Fallen scraped knees
Wounds and scars I’ve earned
As parts of adventures or lessons
They’ve all healed eventually
Not you though
You are the hurt that persists
