in my waking dreams
the lights of past ghosts watch me
a silent haunting

Only hoping in dreams
Where sleep obscures
The disappointment of reality
In Morpheus loving arms
Wrapped up in willing surrender

Touching her hand to her heart
She reaches out seeking arms
To hold her like she wants to be
Held in where she felt safe and
Warm and completely comfortable

She had to try out the dream
To find out it wasn’t the fantasy
Her mind has made it up to be
The girl who had been so free
Traveling the world on a whim
Convinced herself that a farm
Out in the country was for her

Stretching her arms to the skies
she reaches with outstretched fingers
to try to touch the stars
that no matter how hard she tries
remain just out of reach

In a oceanside cafe Maria sits alone
Bare foot tapping time to the band
Playing flamenco music on stage
All the boys are calling to her
To show some of that Spanish dancing

Still moments in the dawn
When blankets still cover
Dreams not yet stolen
By Morpheus into his realm
Soft breath slowing
