Like a dirty mutt in the rain
Thinking maybe she’ll clean up
And after three bathes in
I’m sober and she still looks
Exactly the same as before

Poem: Questionable Hospitality
Arms held wide in a show
Of welcoming love
To any body willing
To accept their embrace
Poem: Reminiscing on Coffee Shops
I miss cafes and coffee shops
With a drink that tastes burnt
Having idled to long on burners
Neglected by a bored barista
Who’s ignored my advances
Every time I’ve come in here
Poem: Harboring Reservations About Freedom
Standing at the edge of the harbor
Where pretending with cold noses

To the bottom set to a chorus
Of wild freemen cheering revolution
