Poem: Searching

Under cloudy skies I search the heavens
For a sign of something greater
Out there beyond myself
But above me are only clouds
Raining down incessantly

She swears by the moon
That she’ll love me forever
And I know in that moment
She’s just like the moon
Changing forever

So long I’ve lost track of the years
That grow long like my shadow
Trailing behind me as a cloak

Poem: Twilight Hues

the dark purple hues
of an oncoming twilight
changes leaves colors
from bright yellow red orange
to darker shades in the eve

Hand to chest where I can feel
The rhythmic beating of a heart
That still pumps and beats and
Lives inside my body even when
My chest feels empty and my heart
Hurts from the invisible wounds
