Wrapping ourselves in a flag of patriotism
We lose sight of what it means to be
An American when the myth of us is
Wrapped up in the illusion of individuals
Which is ironic since e pluribus unum
Strength comes from interdependency
Weakness comes from being divided
And divided we are on superficial issues

Poem: Happy Birthday Bob
Many years ago I needed shelter from the storm
from a hard rain that was a-gonna falling
a tambourine man beckoned me in
to safe harbors saving me from the hurricane
I was positive we were on 4th street
where he introduced me to his rainy day women
Poem: Route 66
There is peace on these American roads
Stretches of no man’s land
Where there used to be family farms
Before the banks foreclosed
And the family moved to California
To join the Joads in chasing the dream
Poem: Evening News
Talking heads on the TV
Tell the home viewer of the world
The worries that fill it
From an environment trying to kill them
Before AntiFa turns their country
Into a socialist wasteland
Poem: Gnomic American
Made in America
Just like mom’s apple pie
Johnny was always the Apple of her eye
From small beginnings he came to great things
Though for the root of evil is money
And a doctors faults are covered with earth
And a rich man’s with money
