Poem: Old Christmases

It’s Christmas time in the city
I’m feeling lonely on the streets
There’s no trees in the windows
Only a few scattered lights
Usually I love the vibrance here
This time of year it makes me feel
Disconnected from the place I live
Where I’m the only one who wants
To celebrate holiday cheer
While everyone else celebrates
Something else some other time of year
It makes me miss the small towns
With every window lit up
The community coming together
For carols and Christmas shows
Maybe some time I’ll get back
For today I’ll just turn on my tree
Basking in the light while searching
For a radio station that still plays White Christmas
