Poem: Cold Spark

She said she was cold
I said I can warm you up
With all innuendo intended
In warmer days you would’ve accepted
Spending the day between covers
Keeping warm despite a lack of cloths
Not now though there’s an ember burning
And it doesn’t contain warmth for me
It’s the spark of indecision smoldering
Looking for a thought to catch
To spread into a conflagration
My offering was not enough kindling
To ignite a change in you this evening
So now we both sit cooling
Too embers burning down
Close enough to feel the heat
But without touch to far to ignite
Into something that would keep us warm
