Her heart once soft and beating Over time petrified From lack of being held Hardening to the world Until it was a rock to the outside While on the inside it was breaking Like the slow drip of rain Across the stalwart rock Slowly wears it away Drip by drip As she watches out the window As rain drop chases raindrop She wonders how long She can tolerate the slow erosion Of loneliness that fills her life Before she falls in two from her solitude
