Poem: Existential Conversations–II. Meaninglessness

Scribbles of thought line plans
On human consciousness
Marking out ambitions to follow
Of grand designs of existence
Dreams of carving deep names
Into Yggdrasil lasting forever
Like dreams these aspirations
Are ephemeral at their best
Ultimately futile at their worst
The cruelest joke humanity tells
Is that anything matters at all
There is no memory for the past
And when the last human breathes
A last breath the universe will be silent
Deafening in its final indifference
If there was anyone left to hear it
But there will be no one left
Rendering everything meaningless
