In whispers at bars they speak
Late at night of a fae they seek
Pale of skin and golden of hair
A legendary maiden who is so fair
A single look from her sky blue eyes
Ensures that any man who sees dies
After filling his life in futile pursuit
Of a beauty rendered him mute
So be wary on the road my dear sons
If you cross a strange beauty run
For she lies in wait along forest path
Waiting to find her soulmate at last
To drag him off to her hidden home
A perfect husband left to die alone
Be brave and Keep your wits about my boys
Or you’ll be another of the fairy queens toys
Ingrid posted a over at dVerse posted a prompt focused on oral poetry, which inspired me to think about early oral traditions focused on legends and the passing of knowledge.

A fine cautionary tale here, which reminds me of a Scandinavian legend Helene (RedCat) wrote about a few weeks back. Thank you for taking part and writing an enchanting lyrical poem!

Fine response to the prompt indeed. Sound advice, delivered. (Friendly proof-reader question: “wary” not “weary”. no?_

One should also be wary of being weary on the road. Thanks for the catch.

This is gorgeously, gorgeously rendered! I especially like; “A single look from her sky blue eyes/Ensures that any man who sees dies.”💝💝
