And today begins a brave new voyage Where we give up the vestiges of youth For the adornment of responsibility That comes with dawning of adulthood We leave the safe harbors of home For the uncertain waters of the future That may seem safe and calm up close The promise of stillness will not persist So we must prepare for the tempests Hoping that the ships we built will stand Demonstrating the fortitude needed To traverse the uncertainty ahead Until we find new lands to plant ourselves Proven worth through our trails between Here’s to foregoing the safety known To challenges unseen that will forge Unshaped mettle into something more Suited for leading ahead the future
Today’s experimental poem is a Envoi, meant as a type of send off to someone. You can read more about it by clicking here.
