Out in the Midwest at night
Looking heavenward you can see
Nearly every observable star
Stretching an out spread hand
To the sky my fingers can bridge
Galaxies that are unfathomable
In their distances from each other
In real space yet here they look
Close enough to almost touch
And it makes me think of you
You’re somewhere here on earth
Once close enough for me to touch
Now you might as well be orbiting
Around one of those distant stars
Out there circling another sun
Lightyears away in a place I can’t see
And can only imagine close enough
To bridge the distance between us
