Poem: Building Tension

Smooth as silk until the shiver
As my fingers trace contours
Of your thigh until the edge
Of your dress is reached
Returning down to your knee
My eyes never leaving yours
Watching you struggle to focus
On maintaining a conversation
When your mind is elsewhere
Thinking on bare skin against
Satin sheets and the taste
Of lips marinated in a martini
Against your margarita lips
Yet you wait playing the charade
There is a timing in everything
Knowing that your patience
Will level the playing field
As my desire grows to match
The fire we both know is burning
Waiting for the strike to ignite
