Poem: Heading Out on Dusty Roads Destination Unknown

She’s lacing up her red converses
Getting ready for the dusty road
Old backpack over her shoulder
One last look around the room
Ready for another last goodbye
She doesn’t say as she heads out
The meaningless words left behind
Another place she’s been setting out
For the horizon of tomorrow’s ahead
Putting out her thumb ready to move
Climbing into the back of the truck
Without a destination she sits down
Letting her hair flow out along the road
Trusting this uncharted path to take
Her where it may go always trusting
No matter the destination she’ll be okay
