Poem: Meadow Running Deep

in the meadow i lay
down my head
next to yours
hair spread out
like a red flame
           h
        a l
           o
spread through
the purple heather
fertile

i feel our love
grow
        like
             roots
in
   tert
        win
    ed

our fingers
connected
to our hearts
b e a t i n g
as one on soft
earth

older than us
that has held
other lovers
time
       less
              ly

passing on
her surface
nurturing
the smallest weed
to the largest
r e d w o o d
without prejudice

i will only hold you
for less than a
b
  r
    e
      a
        t
          h
in the time of eons

for us though
it will be our piece
of eternity

A wild Saturday prompt appeared! Something a little different in response to Eugi’s prompt on Meadows.

  1. Love the layout of this and of course your poem is beautifully written as always. Is it easier to make adjustments to the wording now that WP has given us more options? I haven’t played around with the settings yet, so kinda wondering if it’s still tough to do.

    1. Thank you!

I wrote it in my Google Keep app and then copy and pasted it into the WordPress desktop app and used a preformatted block. So if it looks good on your end I’m guessing it worked 😉 (though I suppose that’s a lot of steps).

I’m doing one tomorrow too, but for that one I did a screen grab and saved it as a picture

      1. Yeah it really did work and I was viewing it on my IPhone which rarely shows a great layout of anything. So keep doing what you did, it looks great! 😃 The screen shot is probably the easiest. I can’t wait to see it. I’m sorry I couldn’t read all of your posts while I was on vacation. I’ll have to spend some time figuring out what I missed while I was gone.

      2. I did! I kinda went all over the place, but ended up in Florida for the majority of my trip. Wednesday’s retrospective will definitely help. 😉

I loved this in particular. Very clever use of formatting. I loved it 🙂
