Poem: Happy Birthday Bob

Many years ago I needed shelter from the storm
from a hard rain that was a-gonna fall
a tambourine man beckoned me in
to safe harbors saving me from the hurricane

I was positive we were on 4th street
where he introduced me to his rainy day women
all tangled up in blue with leopard-skin pill-box hats
trying to talk me into going to Maggie’s farm
where we call all together stay forever young
I said “nah man, tonight I’m staying here with you”

Waking up in Mobile with those Memphis blues
when my doubts set in you said “don’t think twice
the times are changing we’re not going anywhere
we’re just blowing in the wind like a rolling stone
at the end of the day we all have to serve someone”

“Maybe,” I said, “but it ain’t me babe”

Happy 80th Birthday to Bob Dylan. A poetic tribute to his works.
