Here’s my pound of flesh The piece of me you asked for A carved out prime cut Served up on a gilded plate For you to lick your lips Salivating over the feast Devouring with gnashing teeth Nothing savored just consumed As your table guest I watch Myself being digested With no dessert forthcoming Two gluttons watching each other One for punishment One for suffering A perfect pairing Like any good meal Over too soon Both left wondering About the dining decisions While still wanting more
