Poem: Dinner Guest

Here’s my pound of flesh
The piece of me you asked for
A carved out prime cut
Served up on a gilded plate
For you to lick your lips
Salivating over the feast
Devouring with gnashing teeth
Nothing savored just consumed
As your table guest I watch
Myself being digested
With no dessert forthcoming
Two gluttons watching each other
One for punishment
One for suffering
A perfect pairing
Like any good meal
Over too soon
Both left wondering
About the dining decisions
While still wanting more
