Poem: From Isle to Holler

The sounds of mountain music
Running through Appalachia
Rolling along hill and holler
Harkens back to songs
That were sung on the isle
Before the call of adventure
Or the escape of oppression
Called their souls to a new world
And though the words changed
To capture their present
The tune still carries the spirit
Of the emerald homeland
