Poem: Warmer Together

Our footprints trail behind us
Across the snowy landscape
Past the frozen pond
Alongside the prints of snow birds
Seeking frozen treats
Under the icicles of the pines

The path behind is clear
My long steps shortened
Next to your smaller foot falls
All the way back to our home

Ahead of us the unknown paths
Unmarked driven smooth
By the wind buffeting
At our backs as we stand still
Watching waiting deciding

With the world of possibility
Stretching before us
It only takes one step
To make the future potential
Past tense

Idling in the beauty
Leads to freezing
Urging forward
To the next step

It may be uncertain
It will certainly be warmer
Walking together
