Early morning snow fall When the entire world waits Snug in borrow and neat Contemplating the trouble Of rising for the day A single note breaks The peace of the dawn Barely carrying on the wind Before being swallowed By the cold The bird song is enough To encourage the rising Of the squirrel and deer Seeking those few morsels That will sustain until spring As the red of morning gives way To the bright blue of the day Life stirs here in the glen When everything else stays frozen In impermanent permanence
