Poem: Rain City

Slate grey skies open
Over a city that would never
Embarrass itself with an umbrella
Wearing rain on their faces
And hunched shoulders
Running down shivering bodies
As if this was their natural state
Soaked and stoic
Rainy city warriors
Marching undeterred
Through a minefield
Of inch deep puddles
