Poem: Sequoia Snow

Stark grey skies
Shed frozen tears
Into the silence
Between red trunks
And green pine needles
The quiet broken by the song
Of the sparrow and thrush
Calling out warnings
To the mountain lion
Waiting in indecision
Between hunger and cold
While bear sleeps
Still in her den
Dreaming of spring

Sequoia Snow was inspired by a picture of the current snow fall in Sequoia National Park.
